Care Requirements:
Tank Size: Minimum of 10 gallons (38 liters) for a small group. Guppies are small and active, so they do well in groups but need space to swim.
Water Temperature: 72-82°F (22-28°C), with a stable temperature.
Water pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.5 - 7.5).
Water Hardness: Soft to medium (5-15 dGH).
Filtration: Moderate filtration is ideal for keeping the water clean and clear. Guppies are hardy but prefer stable, clean water.
Diet: Omnivorous. Feed a varied diet of high-quality flake food, micro-pellets, live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms, as well as occasional plant matter like spirulina or finely chopped vegetables.
Tankmates: Peaceful and social, Red Dragon Guppies get along well with other small, non-aggressive fish. Ideal tankmates include other guppies, tetras, rasboras, and peaceful shrimp. Avoid keeping with larger, more aggressive species that may intimidate or harm them.
Lighting: Moderate to bright lighting to highlight their stunning colors. Guppies enjoy a well-lit environment, but they also appreciate areas of shade for resting.
Schooling: Guppies are social and should be kept in groups of at least 5-6 individuals. A school will allow them to exhibit natural behavior and reduce stress.
Decor: Provide plenty of plants, rocks, and hiding spots to encourage natural behaviors. Guppies enjoy swimming freely, but having areas to hide can help reduce stress. A fine gravel or sand substrate is ideal for guppy tanks.
Water Quality: Regular water changes are important to maintain the health of your guppies, as they are sensitive to water quality. Aim for at least 25% water changes weekly to keep the water clean and the fish happy.
