Black Angelfish are a striking freshwater variant of the common angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), known for their deep black color and graceful fins. They’re a popular choice for community aquariums and do well in peaceful setups with proper care.
Care Requirements:
•Tank Size: 30 gallons minimum (taller tanks preferred)
•Adult Size: Up to 6 inches
•Temperament: Semi-peaceful; best with non-fin-nipping tank mates
•Temperature: 76–82°F
•pH: 6.5–7.5
•Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
•Diet: Omnivore – high-quality flakes/pellets, frozen or live foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms
•Tank Setup: Vertical space, plants, and gentle flow; avoid sharp décor
With the right conditions, Black Angelfish are hardy and long-lived, making them a great centerpiece fish for a well-maintained tank.
